SPRING – SUMMER – AUTUMN 2019
The Art Gallery “Anti” this year opens its hospitable venue in the Castle (Kastro) of Antiparos earlier than in previous years.
Beginning of Spring, Saturday April 6th and two dear friends of ours, photographers Bjarne Emil Time & Nikos Efstratiou, started the Gallery’s Program by bringing their black and white photographs from Norway and Paros to their joint exhibition titled “Wild and Beat.”. Their photographic encounter lasted Thursday, May 2nd.
The exhibition of Marble Art Objects is inaugurated on Saturday, May 4th, under the title “Human Works”. Our well-known marble sculptors from Tinos who are restoring the Temple of Apollo at Despotiko, Panagiotis Zestanakis, Loukas Ioannou, Giorgos Kontonikolaou, Minas Maravelias, Giorgos Palamaris, Giannoulis Skaris & Vangelis Chatzis, exhibit new creations inspired by the minimalism of the Cycladic tradition. Photos from the photography exhibition by Mary Chatzakis “The People of Despotiko” also participates and the Photo Book is available in the art gallery. Their exhibition will last until Wednesday, June 5th.
On Saturday, June 8, it is once more our pleasure to welcome Achilleas Christidis. The painter, who loved the Cyclades in his own way, paints the Aegean islands with his unique technique that always impresses us. We will host his new exhibition until Thursday, July 3rd.
On Saturday, July 6th, the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PHOTOGRAPHY & ART OF ANTIPAROS launches the great cultural event of Antiparos, the Antiparos International Photo Festival 2019 for the 7th year, with the assistance of the Municipality of Antiparos & KEDA. With “THE SEA” as theme, 15 photographers exhibit their works, framing the photographic exhibition “KAPETANEIKA” from Naoussa, Paros, the official guest of Photo Festival ’19, contributing to the nationwide struggle to stop “breaking” wooden boats. It will be hosted at the Kastro (Castle), where parallel artistic events will take place until Sunday July 14th.
On Tuesday, July 16th, the exhibition of the optimistic & “bright” painter Christos Kechagioglou is inaugurated! As an inner narrative, his works will illuminate and animate the “Elements of the Sea” as he titles his last work! His visual, original narrative will last until Sunday, August 4th.
On Tuesday, August 6th, our favorite painter George Hadoudis, comes to the island to entertain us with his strong ceramic creations and not only! The intense, colorful, always interesting exhibition of his works, his paintings in the “Anti” Art Gallery and his special glamorous presence, will join us in the evenings in the Kastro (Castle), until Sunday, August 25th.
On Tuesday, August 27th, the exhibition of the international painter Giorgos Papageorgiou is inaugurated. In his extremely minimalist works, we will find the colors and the light of the cultures that influenced him and shaped his aesthetics. The unique compositions of shapes, textures and color variations will fascinate us like painting melodies. The journey to search for the meanings in his paintings will end on our island on Sunday September 15th.
End of autumn and the program of our small Art Gallery “Anti” at the Kastro (Castle) of Antiparos, will close with the “SYNOPSIS” of the entries of this year. From Monday, September 16th until Sunday, September 29th, our autumn visitors will have the opportunity to see a group exhibition of the artists who honored us with their presence in our island in spring, summer and autumn 2019.
