Artist statement
Giotsas, referencing his Athenian heritage, finds inspiration in deeply textured stone. Sensing a connection with the archeology of his homeland Giotsas constructs wall sculptures and sculptural objects using concrete tinted with shades and shadows made from natural tree resins from the Greek island of Chios.
Painting with the textured cement, earth, and other natural materials he evokes a sense of a lost ancient culture…an environment that he encourages the viewer to enter.
